Hey guys...how have you been? Hope none of you have got the flu/cold bug like I have!
Jesse and I have been sick this whole week!
I got sick from him, and he got it from Dan who probably got it from his kids who probably brought it home from Doodlebug!
(Doodlebug is their daycare by the way, and it's an awesome name =p. )
Anyway, kids!!! The transmitter of deadly diseases!!!
Lol just kidding. I do love kids honestly.
Except the overly bratty spoilt ones who cry at everything to get what he wants. Ughhh...I shall not mention names. :-I
And Dan's wife Jan got it worse, she even had to go to the hospital for it. I think she's doing better now.
I'm still recovering; yesterday we went out for a walk at the park and I was quite winded from just walking...I felt so out of shape!
Anyway here's some pictures from last weekend, when we were helping fix up Dan's kitchen.

Anyway here's some pictures from last weekend, when we were helping fix up Dan's kitchen.
We primed the ceilings and walls, and painted the walls like a taupe-y, cocoa-ish colour. The colour swatch says 'natural beige' but it dries much darker than that.
Cut a hole in the wall to make way for a bartop. Still got more work to do in the kitchen!
Working on the tile backsplash.
What should have taken them only a couple of hours, took them all day cos the tile-cutter kept giving problems.Earlier that day Jan and I went to Renninger's auction/market to get some grubs for the hungry men, and we stopped by Scott's to get some chicken fingers.
So we already made our order and was waiting around, and the man working there (I'm assuming Scott) asked me, "Were you born here in the States?"
And I was like, nope, I'm from Singapore.
K well here's the rest of our whole conversation:
Me: Where did you think I come from?
Scott: Like Philippines, Thailand, somewhere in that region.
Me: Yeah, I get Philippines alot.
Scott: Now, what's the big city in Singapore?
Me: It's Singapore! The whole country is a whole city in itself cos its so small.
Some guy working there(in his late teens or early 20's I would say): Yeah it's like a island or something right? It's really small.
Me: Yeah! It's not big at all.
Guy: Wasn't it part of the British colony at one time?
Me: (shocked) Yeah! Wow you know your history!
Guy: And didn't the Japanese take over too?
Me: (Mouth agape) Yeah, they did!
Guy: Now, who took over the country first, was it the British or the Japanese?
Me: (racking my brain trying to remember my own country's history) Uhmmm.. I think it was the British... you know what? I really suck at history so I might get this all wrong. I think you know more about the history of my country than I do! (laughs)
Guy: (laughs) What about the Khmer's, was Singapore ever part of that?
Me: Uhhh....no it wasn't but I think it was like...(racking my brain again)...Vietnam or something in that region.
Guy: Was it Cambodia?
Me: Yeahh that's it!
Lol at this point I was just amazed that somebody knows anything about Singapore or South-East Asia, let alone a young guy.
Cos out here, pretty much nobody knows about Singapore. Lol so I was quite impressed!
Oh and Scott was impressed that I spoke really good English, so I told them about our school language system, and everyone learnt English in school.
Which of course the other guy knew about too. Lol.
We chatted a little bit more about Singapore and then me and Jan had to make our way back to the house.
All I know is, I'm gonna frequent Scott's more often just cos they actually know about Singapore lol unlike most ignorant Americans. And they're really nice people too. =)
Anyway I have been trying out new recipes lately and working my magic in the kitchen. Lol. Amateur-level magic, but whatever. =p
I made baked manicotti, orange-chocolate biscotti, honey-baked bananas(real easy) and maple caramel sauce over the past week.
I'll put the recipes on my kitchen blog when I get to it sometime! =p
xoxo
Oh and happy birthday to my brother Zul! (He turned 28 today.. omg so old! lol j/k)
And congratulations to me cousin Farin in Brunei, he is getting married this weekend. Wishing you wedded bliss and a lifetime of love and happiness. =)
